Ashford Estate

The renovation of Ashford Estate will seamlessly blend contemporary design with the natural beauty of the Upstate New York landscape. This modern transformation will highlight the serene surroundings while incorporating sleek, minimalist elements like black, white, and concrete, creating a refined yet bold aesthetic. The focus will be on maximizing natural light, introducing sustainable materials, and creating open, airy spaces that enhance both functionality and luxury.

Vision

Interior Design:

Open Concept Layout:

The interior will be designed with an open floor plan that emphasizes spaciousness and light. High ceilings, wide hallways, and clean lines will create an airy, expansive feel. The kitchen, dining, and living areas will flow seamlessly into each other, creating a sense of continuity and connection.

Color Palette:

A neutral color palette of whites, blacks, and grays will dominate the interior, offering a timeless backdrop. Matte black finishes on hardware and fixtures, white walls, and concrete flooring will define the space, with rich wood tones incorporated as accents to add warmth and texture.

Concrete Floors & Walls:

Concrete will be used extensively throughout the estate, including polished concrete floors, concrete accent walls, and even concrete countertops. This modern material will be softened with plush furnishings, natural wood elements, and soft textiles to create a balanced, inviting environment.

Living and Dining Areas:

  • Sleek, Minimalist Furnishings: The furniture will have clean, geometric shapes with simple, high-end materials. Black leather sofas, sleek metal coffee tables, and white upholstered chairs will complement the concrete flooring and walls, creating a stylish and functional living space.

  • Natural Light: Large glass windows and sliding doors will flood the space with natural light, allowing for stunning views of the surrounding landscape. White or neutral shades will be used on window treatments to allow the light to filter through while maintaining privacy.

  • Statement Lighting: Oversized pendant lights in black or matte finishes will hang above dining tables, while recessed lighting and subtle track lighting will highlight architectural details and create a moody, ambient atmosphere in the evening.

Kitchen and Dining:

  • Modern, Industrial Kitchen: The kitchen will feature matte black & taupe cabinetry, white marble or concrete countertops, and state-of-the-art appliances. An oversized concrete island with minimalist, stainless steel details will serve as both a functional workspace and a gathering spot.

  • Dining Area: The dining area will have a contemporary, large stone dining table with minimalist chairs. The juxtaposition of rich stone and sleek hold metal elements will maintain the modern aesthetic while keeping the space warm and inviting.

Bedrooms:

  • Calm, Serene Spaces: The bedrooms will feature a mix of concrete, wood, and textiles to create relaxing, serene spaces. Concrete accent walls, simple black or white bedding, and minimalist furniture will allow for a sense of tranquility and calm. Large windows will offer views of the natural surroundings, bringing the outside in.

  • Textured Comfort: Soft, neutral linens in grays and whites, along with plush wool rugs, will contrast with the hard materials, ensuring comfort and warmth. A central statement piece, like a large abstract art piece or an elegant metal bedframe, will add a personal touch to each room.

Bathrooms:

  • Concrete and Marble: The bathrooms will feature bold combinations of concrete and marble for a sleek, spa-like aesthetic. Large concrete slabs will form the base of the design, paired with crisp white marble vanities and minimalist black fixtures.

  • Statement Showers: Spacious walk-in showers with glass enclosures and black-framed elements will be complemented by stone tiles or large-format concrete slabs, further enhancing the clean, modern look.

  • Ambient Lighting: Soft, ambient lighting in the bathrooms will highlight the textures of the materials, creating a calming and luxurious space for relaxation.

Sustainability & Natural Elements:

  • Eco-Friendly Features: The estate will incorporate sustainable building practices, including solar panels, energy-efficient appliances, and smart home systems that monitor energy use. Insulated windows and natural ventilation strategies will help maintain comfort while reducing environmental impact.

  • Natural Materials: Throughout the estate, natural materials like stone, wood, and glass will be used to maintain a connection with the surrounding environment. Wood paneling, stone fireplaces, and exposed steel beams will bring warmth and texture to the otherwise sleek, minimalist design.

  • Indoor Plants: Lush indoor plants, such as ferns and succulents, will be placed strategically throughout the estate to soften the hard materials and introduce a touch of greenery, complementing the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.
